6 years, Male, Small/Medium Mixed Breed (Springer spaniel size)
Bert arrived with us in February this year and was the most friendly boy wanting hugs and cuddles all of the time. He could be mischievous but he has always been a character!
Bert did get rehomed and lived in the home fine for a few months, however, his owners had some difficulty managing him and reading his body language which led Bert to become uncomfortable with too much close contact and handling from men.
He has been a star since arriving back, he is still incredibly heartbroken and does cry for the loss of his home. He has met men in the rescue and has been affectionate and loving with them, he is still unsure of lots of handling with men and can get a little grumpy about it. Men in the home need to give Bert space to be able to build a bond with him.
He is a cuddle monkey and does need someone around a lot. He does not like being left alone and his abandonment has really made him worry that people will not come back to him. He cannot be left for very long and his new family will need to work on this with him.
He walks very well on a lead and really enjoys getting out of the kennels to go for walks.
He's an active dog so needs a home that will keep up with him and provide him with mental stimulation to help him tire out and settle.
Bert is a treasure in the right hands. He needs someone that are willing to read his body language (staff will advise on this) and listen to him so that he does not get overwhelmed by people.
