Introducing our very own tripod dog, Freya!

Freya's Story:

Freya recently came to stay with us at Oakwood for a little holiday because she wasn't coping well in the kennels that she'd been residing in for a long time.

She was said to be super stressed and struggling to maintain a healthy weight.

Freya took less than 24 hours to settle in with us and she has been everybody's best friend, human and dog. She is such a happy girl and her tail never stops wagging. It's amazing what a change of scenery can do for a dog <3

Freya was originally found as a small puppy on the streets of Romania. She had horrendous injuries to her back end and unfortunately, one of her legs could not be saved. Just to make things a little worse for this poor little pup, the leg that was saved had breaks and fractures and that one had to heal first, before the other one could be removed.

Once recovered, Freya was brought to the UK for a fresh start. She found herself a home but unfortunately, things drastically changed in the home environment and Freya needed to be removed ASAP.

She went into rescue kennels and found life incredibly difficult. She was scared and stressed causing her to be reactive almost 24/7. She'd lost a worrying amount of weight and most staff were not able to get near her.

Freya was transferred to us in February this year and she settled in almost instantly. She is bomb proof with any dog she mixes with and absolutely adores having fusses and cuddles. She has been a little kennel reactive when we have new people in the building but we know this is only because she is scared but once she knows she's safe, her tail never stops wagging and she constantly has this massive beam of a smile on her face. We all just find her absolutely adorable.

For the horrendous life that poo Freya has had in her young life, she still has so much love and trust for the people that show her kindness, she deserves nothing but happiness from now on.

With other dogs:

Freya is amazing with any dog we mix her with. She is not too in their face and always shows them kindness. She has particularly taken on the mum role to our youngster Beyonce, always checking in that she is ok, helping her be brave when she's around new dogs / people and best of all, she takes little Beyonce a stuffed toy every single morning, she absolutely melts our hearts.

With cats:

Freya is untested with cats but we are hoping to get her tested as soon as possible. We will update her page as soon as we know if she is suitable to live with cat[s].
