VIEWING THE RESCUE DOGS IS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY
We do not operate on an open kennel policy, our kennels are closed to the public unless an appointment is booked following a successful application.
Is an Oakwood Rescue Dog the Dog for you?
- Many of our dogs are ex-street dogs from overseas, due to their background we have no history on them. It is also worth noting that the history we are given about our UK dogs is not always complete so we ask that you are comfortable with little to no history.
- Many have never lived in homes before and cannot walk on a lead.
- Due to many never living in houses we cannot guarantee if they will be toilet trained.
- You must commit to having the dog in the home for a minimum of 4 weeks.
- You must not be moving house within the next 3 months as the dog needs a lot of time to settle.
- You must not be going on holiday within 8 weeks of applying for a dog.
If you are moving or going on holiday we ask that you please apply when you are back or fully moved and settled to avoid any disruption when the dog is taken home.

As many of our dogs come to us via International Dog Rescue to save dogs on euthanasia lists t is important that applicants educate themselves on the treatment of Romanian street dogs to begin to learn how much the dogs have gone through and understand what makes them so frightened of the world.
