Introducing.. gorgeous Gary!

Gary's Story:

Poor little Gary has had such a rough start to life.

At some point during his short life, he picked up a viral disease called Distemper. It attacks the nervous system and only 50% of dogs survive.

Gary was one of the lucky ones that pulled through however he has been left with a life long, and very noticeable twitch, in his back left leg.

He can be a little wobbly at times when walking but it doesn't let it affect him in the slightest and he is just the happiest, fluffy little dog that craves all the love and cuddles.

**Gary has been very poorly recently and is currently being treated for a disease called Hepatozoonosis. He is currently receiving medication and is already much brighter and active and fully has his appetite back.

For anyone that might be interested in adopting Gary, we will go in to much more detail with you about this disease that he could potentially carry lifelong. It could be cured but it could also just lay dormant forever. We will ensure that we get 2 negative tests done for the disease before we can see that he is no longer suffering from it.

Please note - Hepatozoonosis is not contagious to other dogs of people

With other dogs:

So far Gary has shown that he prefers not to be in the company of other dogs. With him being so small, it is likely he was bullied in the shelter and doesn't feel safe around them. We will continue to assess Gary with other dogs by mixing him with some of our current residents but for now, he will be available for adoption as an only dog.

With cats:

Gary has been cat tested and is able to live with cats.
