Introducing... the gentle giant Ice!

Ice's Story:

Ice is approximately 5 years old and has come from a public shelter in Romania.

We normally prioritise taking in the more nervous dogs that are much more unlikely to be rescued but Ice photo bombed a picture that was being taken for us of our other dogs beings loaded on to the van. We asked about him and we were told that he was not safe [he had no placement lined up] and so we said we'd take him too.

Ice arrived at Oakwood wagging his tail and enjoying lots of fusses. He has been nothing but a gentleman since he has been with us.

With other dogs:

We believe that Ice would be great as an only dog but could have lots of dog friends to meet up with for walks and play dates. He doesn't rely on other dogs like a lot of our current residents as he is so people friendly.

He has reacted to smaller dogs when out walking but only the occasional one, most he is happy to meet and make friends with.

He has play dates at the rescue with many of the larger dogs and he is either super playful with them of just ignores them.

With cats:

Ice has been cat tested and unfortunately he showed us that he would not be able to live with them.

Active energy

Ice shows to have moderate energy levels. He require at least 2 x 40 minute walks per day

3-4 hrs to start

Ice has never lived in a home before and so his time alone would need to be slowly built up.

We believe that once Ice is settled, he should be ok to be left alone for 4-5 hours

Lead trained

Ice has recently start lead walking with us and is doing great, he's really enjoying getting out of the kennels and spending time in the outdoors with his handlers
