Misty's Story:
Misty is currently grieving the loss of everything and everyone that she has ever know. She recently lost her beloved dad and she doesn't understand why her whole world has just changed.
Misty originally arrived at Oakwood back in 2018 after escaping the horrors of a public kill shelter in Romania. 7 months later, she was adopted by her very own mum and dad who loved her dearly.
Sadly, Misty's mum passed away a couple of years ago and heartbreakingly, last month, her dad passed away too.
Neighbours had noticed that they hadn't seen Misty out for one of her daily walks in a few days and so the police were called to check the property
The fire brigade had to be called to break the back door down and then the police entered the property. Misty was absolutely terrified, she'd been laid on the bed for a minimum of 5 days with her deceased dad and then all of this happened. We can't even imagine who scared she would have been.
Misty came straight to us at Oakwood and has been given lots of time to grieve and decompress. She still lays with belongings from her home including laying with her dads slippers every night.
These days, she is doing much better, she has daily zoomies, loves going on 45 minute walks and accepts all of the belly tickles that she can get.
In her quiet time though, you can still see her little face overwhelmed by everything that happened to her and still processing it all.
Bio:

With other dogs:
Misty will tolerate being in the presence of certain dogs but doesn't enjoy being around others. She won't hesitate in telling them to go away if she's feeling uncomfortable or not wanting to be around them.
With cats:
Misty has shown us, with no shadow of a doubt, that she does not like cats.
Active energy
Misty may be an older lady but she still loves her long leisurely walks on a daily basis. We'd say she has moderate energy levels.
0 -2 hrs to start
Misty has always had someone home with her so is not used to being left alone. She would be best suited to a home where she'd only be left for minimal periods of time.
Lead trained
Misty absolutely loves her walks, she used to have 3-4 walks a day with her dad but at the rescue she can easily manage 1-2 x 45 minute walks a day.
Training required
Misty is fairly shut down at the minute so we're not sure how much training she has. At the moment, she has been training us to give her belly tickles on demand.
