Introducing Peanut!

We don't know much about Peanut's background other than he found himself in a public shelter in Romania.

These shelters are extremely overcrowded due to the immense number of street dogs / owners dumping them at the shelter gates on a daily basis.

Smaller dogs like Peanut usually really struggle in these places. It's always survival of the fittest and the smaller more timid dogs like Peanut always arrive to us very underweight.

Since being at Oakwood, Peanut has shown us that he LOVES people. He is extremely submissive due to his past but so long as you let him initiate the contact, he'll be all over you for kisses and fusses.

With other dogs:

Peanut can be quite dog selective but overall he gets along with dogs really well. He's super playful and has tons of energy running around our fields with the other dogs.

He is not able to live with other dogs due to guarding issues. He can people guard, toy guard, anything guard as he has never before had anything of his own and so now, it's almost like he's a little overwhelmed with it all and does what he can to ensure no other dog will take that thing from him again whether that be his people, his food or his toys. This may settle down in time as he's not been with us for long but whilst we are seeing these behaviours, we can not responsibly place him in a home with another dog.

With cats:

Peanut is still settling in with us at Oakwood and so we've not yet been able to cat test him.

Active energy

Peanut has high levels of energy. He currently loves nothing more than bombing it around and around our fields letting off some steam, he absolutely loves running

0-2 hours - need to be built up

Peanut has never lived in a home before - as far as we are aware.

Any time alone will need to be slowly built up over time.

Lead trained

We've not yet started lead training with Peanut but he is food motivated and people friendly and so we don't think we'll have many issues with this other than his nervousness and submissiveness
